Hologramme marks my directorial debut—a deeply personal and creative milestone. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of creating many videos for Visrei, but this was our first collaboration, where I also stepped into the role of producer. The video was inspired by a song Visrei wrote on his birthday, reflecting on the fear of aging and the fleeting nature of youth.

The first 1:30 of the video is a continuous shot—a bold and ambitious choice, especially when working with 16mm film. This technique added a sense of intimacy and fluidity, drawing viewers into the protagonist’s dreamlike journey. The story follows the protagonist, played by Visrei, as he falls asleep and imagines a whimsical, youthful creature—a symbol of vitality and the innocence he fears losing over time.

Fun fact: The song’s concept actually began with a simple “finger binocular” dance. When I first heard the track, this weird gesture came to mind, and I reached out to Miranda Chan to see if she wanted to expand it into a choreography. She said yes. Her creative touch brought the movement to life, giving the visuals a playful yet focused energy that ties the narrative together.
